Kittery or Cattery?A cattery is an establishment where cats are bred and boarded. A kittery is instead a place where hoodlum cats are taken in and treated with care and love. Registered cats are not excluded, but are not required either. Any person with a good heart can start a kittery. Kitteries are generally a happier place if the cats begin as kittens. The older cats are more open to new cats if they are kittens. They just can't resist the playfulness. If you want to see an interesting growth spurt bring in a new kitten to a set of 1 year old "kittens". The older kittens will immediately stop doing all the fun things from the day before and begin acting like adults. They will watch the young one as if they are much too mature to be playing with the sock ball. No more play fighting or chasing each other. They jump right past troublesome teenagers to the watchful parents. After the kitten becomes a teenager then everything is back to normal. All the cats act as if they were from the same litter with individual quirks but still cuddle together. |
